I use primarily New Zealand timbers, as I have found in recent years the ones I have selected have yielded wonderful instruments and showcase the beauty and uniqueness of New Zealand.
I have worked with these timbers for many years with a background not only in guitar making but in fine furniture production, thus I know these timbers capabilities, strengths and weaknesses.
These timbers include fine grade quarter-sawn Kauri,Kahikatea for soundboards, beautifully figured Ancient Kauri and or Heart Rimu for back and sides, and quarter-sawn Kauri and Matai necks. I carefully select each piece of timber to ensure high quality and consistantly warm, balanced, high-sustaining sounding instruments.
The guitars also feature Paua shell inlays on the fretboard and head of the guitar. These are Maori motifs known as Koru. The soundhole inlay is a very traditional Maori Kowhaiwhai design called Ngutukura, originating from the Poverty Bay region. The bindings and back inlay are as per back and side material with Pine laminate. The fretboard and bridge are made of Puriri ( NZ Teak).
Each guitar is protected with nitrocellulose lacquer and can be finished to any gloss level. Guitar comes with hard shell case which can be upgraded by request.
All guitars come with a limited 12 month warranty.
I am proud to say all the Kauri used in my instruments is 100% recycled timber. I'm passionate about restoring the once great forests of Kauri that covered much of the North Island. So, for every guitar sold, a donation will go to the Kauri2000 Trust. It will buy three Kauri seedlings and a comemorative plaque for each in your name or another person nominated by you. The Kauri2000 Trust evolved out of a project to mark the start of the new millennium with a goal to plant 2000 Kauri. To date the Trust has planted over 23,000 Kauri on the Coromandel Peninsula and continues to plant Kauri throughout the Coromandel. 2009 marks the Trust's 10th anniversary. Please visit their website, learn about the Kauri Tree, and contribute in any way you can to this worthy cause. www.kauri2000.co.nz/
Thankyou,
Christian Druery.

Testimonials
Christian, Your guitars are wonderful !! Thankyou so much for the details. We will include this in our records for the instruments (for all time!) and extract form your notes for our exhibit labels Some day I will get to your workshop. I would like to talk with you more about your processes-and materials and design decisions for the guitars. Best wishes, Jennifer Post Associate Curator at the MIM
(distant praise)
Gentleperson, I live in Phoenix, Arizona USA Yesterday I had the great fortune to tour the new Musical Instrument Museum (MIM), it was awesome While in the NZ exhibit I leaned close enough to spy this email address inside of a simply stunning acoustic six-string guitar Today I thought to compose a note to the address, possibly connecting with a talented individual half a word away Much respect for your skills and for your aggregate interest in music Many, many people will see your work and appreciate it without your knowing about each and every instance Please use my note to help you imagine how much good energy you put out when that instrument was on your bench Have a wonderful day and by all means necessary, keep making useful things Brian
Hi Christian - It's me !! Well, your beautiful uke has had lots of playing time and the ukulele band is getting quite a lot of gigs around town. We have played for bithdays, at restaurants, Christmas functions, wineries, Farmers Market - all sorts really.

Christian, Just dropping you a note to say that the guitar arrived safely. My wife was very very happy! She was in tears, she loved the guitar and the photos and strap were a perfect touch to the whole present. Thank you again, I know you had planned some R&D during the last month or so, so it was a big effort to get it done. Regards, Mike Lewis
Hi Christian A big thanks again for that bella-beautiful guitar! Can't help but admire your handiwork everyday (how do you do that from a lump of wood) and having just been to piano traders music shop to pick up some gat strings, I sidled over to the very expensive Martins for a comparison pluck (as you do). Just reconfirmed my purchase decision all over again as their top end models sounded like deadwood from a ring-barked watties heinz can after yours. Its has been an enjoyable experience and what has added value is you get to meet the craftsman - his story and the personality, smell the fresh laquer still lingering which is got far more heartnsoul than plucking a dusty labeled brandname off a rock shop shelf pass the visa over and walk out with a piece of axe plucked from the ether! Love to keep-in-touch with all your developments. cheers man,
Pete Watson
